VDC Slots
The top row of the Virtual Data Cable Monitor window contains the 14 columns for the network’s VDC
Slots. Each column contains the routing information for one of the Virtual Data Cables.
VDC Type
When a Virtual Data Cable is activated from a Pro64 device, information about the VDC will be displayed in
the VDC Type column. Valid entries include GPIO, MIDI, and RS‑232/422.
An active VDC will show a yellow LED icon when only its input is activated. It will display a green LED icon
when the input is connected to a valid output somewhere in the network.
VDC 3 has an incomplete MIDI connection; VDC 8 shows a GPIO connection with two outputs.
RS-232/422 VDC
When using RS‑232 or RS422 with a VDC, remember that these data types require a pair of Virtual Data
Cables per connection—one for transmit, the other for receive. An incomplete RS232 or RS422 VDC will
have yellow LED icons in two columns.
Yellow icons indicate that VDC 5-6 has an RS-232/422 input on 6416i #1 but no output device has been selected.
